The Aalto2 Museum Centre is a forum for architecture, design, and cultural heritage in Jyväskylä. It connects two buildings designed by the world-renowned architect Alvar Aalto: the Alvar Aalto Museum (1971–1973) and the Museum of Central Finland (1956–1961). The Aalto2 Museum Centre offers an interesting exhibition program and new event offerings. Aalto2 fulfills Alvar Aalto’s wish for a shared forum encompassing various artistic fields.
The permanent exhibitions at the museum center provide insights into Alvar Aalto’s life, work, and the Jyväskylä region. In the summer of 2024, the extensive exhibition complex The Pool will be presented at Aalto2, combining Alvar Aalto’s architectural heritage with international skateboard culture and rap and hip-hop culture.
Aalto2 Shop and Aalto2 Café offer a cozy space for refreshments between exhibition tours, featuring seasonal delights and the best travel souvenirs.
