Kiiskilänmäki Hill

Kiiskilänmäki Hill is located in the village of Nikaranperä, in the municipality of Multia, about 60 kilometres from Jyväskylä. It is the highest point in the entire Jyväskylä region. The hill rises 268.6 metres above sea level.

In 2004, a 20-metre-tall observation tower was built on the hill along with, a lean-to, a wood shed, and a hut. All these buildings are the result of communal work by the villagers, and are owned by the Nikara Village Association.

A three-kilometre nature trail starts from the observation tower and descends to the nearby wilderness lake of Lauttajärvi. The trail meanders around a logging area on its way down to Lauttajärvi. Along the path, there is a bog that can be crossed using a boardwalk. After the bog, you reach the shore of Lake Lauttajärvi, with about a 700-metre branch to reach the cape Lauttaniemi.

Kiiskilänmäki welcomes you to admire the scenery, hiking or camping, or just a seat at the campfire to enjoy a meal in the nature. The Village Association welcomes everyone to visit the Jyväskylä region’s nature!
