Completed in 2016, the Hakamäki Nature Trail is located on the eastern edge of Haapamäki village. The nature trail runs through the varied forest terrain of Haaravuori hill. The path ascends to the rocky pine forest of Haaravuori, and descends to a spruce forest, passing a marshland.
Starting point and guidance:
The starting point and information board are in the car park of Haapamäki Steam Locomotive Park The route is marked with blue paint markings and “Luontopolku” signposts.
Average hiking time:
The trail is approx. 1 km long and takes 1 hour to complete.
The information boards provide information on local wildlife, e.g. the polypore fungi, insects, birds and bats.
The trail can be completed wearing normal outdoor shoes. Some wet passages are equipped with a boardwalk.
