The trail is located near the centre of Pihtipudas and runs through wetlands along the Heinäjoki river. The 1.5-kilometre boardwalk leads through a dwarf-shrub pine bog to the birdwatch towers along the Heinäjoki river and across it over a pontoon bridge. The trail forms part of the network of nature trails around Heinäjoki, totalling 6.5 km of paths.

There is a guide map at the start of the trail. The route is covered with a boardwalk, so it is easy to follow.
The trail can be completed wearing regular outdoor shoes. The boardwalk can be slippery during wet weather.
