The 3 km trail runs near the centre of Pihtipudas. It runs through forest, peatland and meadow landscapes, and it also includes points of culture-historical interest. These include the old Rapeikko smallholding and a tar kiln, which was used in the traditional method of distilling tar from wood.
Starting point and guidance: Drive south along the E75 for 2 km and turn right to Rapeikko. The path starts one kilometre along the road.

Allow a couple of hours to complete the trail.
Information boards along the trail provide facts about the local habitat.
The path is easy to walk, and the wet areas are covered with boardwalks. The trail can be completed wearing regular outdoor shoes, but in wet conditions, waterproof footwear is recommended.
