From 1.1.2017 museum and exhibitions are closed due to reconstruction of the building.

Tue–Sun from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission: EUR 6 (EUR 3 for students). Free admission on Fridays. Free admission for museology students and visitors aged under 18. EUR 4 per person for groups of more than ten.

The Museum of Central Finland serves as the city museum of Jyväskylä and the provincial museum of Central Finland. This white plastered building was completed in 1961, in accordance with Aalto’s designs. The museum was renovated and an extension was added between 1988 and 1990, designed by Alvar Aalto & Co, Architects. Since then, the overall appearance and environment of the building have changed considerably.
