Nature in the middle of the city!

Rantaraitti is the pedestrian and cycle route circling Lake Jyväsjärvi which encourages people to get out and get moving throughout the year – and all this right in the centre of the city! In addition to being an intrinsic and beautiful part of Jyväskylä’s network of cycle/pedestrian routes, it is also highly popular with locals for recreational purposes.

Finland’s largest outdoor gym

The opportunities for sport and fitness along Rantaraitti continue to grow. In autumn 2016, the Culture and Sports Committee adopted a plan to develop the Rantaraitti route by building a comprehensive network of different fitness venues and equipment in stages over the next few years. Once completed, it will include seven fitness stations, eight fitness stops and five other fitness areas.
