Old buildings and gardens exude stories of old times, which is why many of these sites are worthy of a visit simply because of their surroundings.

Design Alonen / Pykälistö

Pykälistö is a cultural oasis of light art and contemporary art, and the history of the Pykälistö area extends to 1898.  Originally it was an area for guardhouses of the national railway company VR. With renovation works, the wooden buildings in Pykälistö have been revived and reinvigorated. In galleries, you do not usually encounter the artists, but here you can meet the artists before seeing their works.

Popper design

The Popper design products are designed and manufactured from start to finish in Jyväskylä.  Craft artist Anu Rinkinen decorates household textiles with unique images by drawing, painting and dyeing. At her workshop, she makes e.g. tapestries, curtains, kitchen textiles, bags and pillows both for the atelier shop as well as customised products to order.

Design Pylsy

The Design Pylsy products are known for their timeless style and minimalist Nordic aesthetics. The high-quality textiles that all made in Finland.  Design Pylsy’s wonderful studio is also a great place to visit, for individual visitors and groups alike.

Glass Arts Hilkka Juppi

Glass Arts Hilkka Juppi offers both glassworks made to order and ready-made gift items. The studio also organises glass courses where you can test your skills.
