What’s going on in Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4<\/h1>

Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4 is a very lively and active city with events organised all year round. The city is one of the most popular places for organising fairs in Finland and a significant conference city. In Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4, the amount of events of various sizes organised annually reaches 5 000, starting from international events that affects tens of thousands people up to minor local pop-up events.<\/p>\n

One of the biggest annual outdoor events in the Nordic countries<\/span>, Rally Finland<\/a>, the oldest, continuously organised city festival in the Nordic countries, Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4 Summer<\/a>, the City of Light Event<\/a>, Suomipop Festival and Finlandia Marathon<\/a> are examples of those mega-events organised in Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4.<\/p>\n

Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4 is known as the Capital of Sport in Finland<\/a>. In addition to Rally Finland, several sports competition at the world championship and Finnish championship levels are organised annually in the city along with other events related to physical activities. The Sports and Wellbeing Centre and Centre of Expertise, Hippos (with its fields and halls), Harjun Stadion (Harju Stadium) and the Centre of Outdoor Activities, Laajavuori that all are located near the city centre, provide a variety of opportunities for both summer and winter events.<\/p>\n

Cultural life in Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4 is best described as highly diverse. The cultural offering extends from edgy happenings put on by students through to high culture. Citizens\u00a0pride themselves\u00a0in the\u00a0symphony orchestra, Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4 Sinfonia<\/a>, which consists of\u00a0professional musicians from a number of different countries. The city also boasts numerous choirs and theatre companies, of which many have tasted\u00a0international success. Concerts in Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4 are arranged both indoors and outdoors and different theatres, for instance Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4 City Theatre<\/a>, stage productions of a high standard<\/p>\n
