Places to swin – Summer and winter

In Jyväskylä, in the heart of the Finnish lake district, there is no shortage of places to swim in summer. On the north side of the city centre you will find Tuomiojärvi beach. In addition to swimming there is a possibility to play beach volley. Close to Tuomiojärvi beach there is also a beach at Viitaniemi. It is accompanied by an extensive grassy area that is ideal for sunbathing or a picnic. In winter those who are brave enough can take a refreshing dip in the ice hole kept open at Tuomiojärvi beach.
