The Sustainable International Accessibility for Tourism in Jyväskylä Region (KeKaSa) project, managed by Visit Jyväskylä Region, will pilot the Outdoor Express service in the national parks of Jyväskylä Region in the summer of 2025. The project is joining forces with Visit Tampere, where the Outdoor Express service has been operating for several years.
“We are very pleased to bring the pilot of the Outdoor Express service to Jyväskylä Region through the KeKaSa project. This service will provide both locals and tourists with a convenient connection to the region’s key natural attractions,” says Anni Peltonen, Project Coordinator of the KeKaSa project. The collaboration will begin this year with the planning of routes.
The Outdoor Express will take tourists and locals alike to three different national parks in the Jyväskylä Region: Pyhä-Häkki National Park, Southern Konnevesi National Park, and Leivonmäki National Park. The ticket pricing will be very user-friendly.
Tickets to the guaranteed departures can be easily purchased through Matkahuolto, either as a single ticket from Matkahuolto’s website or the Trips and Tickets app. The app also allows for the convenient purchase and viewing of complete travel chains with connections from anywhere in Finland.
KeKaSa Project Enhances Regional Accessibility and Internal Transport
The three-year KeKaSa project promotes the international carbon-smart accessibility of the entire tourism area, both in terms of international arrivals and internal mobility and nature tourism. The project focuses on smooth travel chains and the development of related cooperation, including with VR and the Tampere tourism area.
One significant aspect of the project is the advancement of electric aviation in Jyväskylä Region.
The project is implemented by Visit Jyväskylä Region, the regional DMO of Jyväskylä Region. The project is co-funded by the European Union, with funding granted by the Regional Council of Jyväskylä Region. Project partners include the tourism area’s partner municipalities, JAMK University of Applied Sciences, and the Central Finland Chamber of Commerce.
