Arrival in Jyväskylä

Jyväskylä is located in the middle of Finland, in the province of Central Finland. Arriving from other parts of the country is therefore easy. You can visit Jyväskylä by plane, train, bus or car. Lake Päijänne allows arrival even by water.

The Jyväskylä Airport is located in Tikkakoski, 20 minutes’ drive from Jyväskylä. Finnair has flights to Jyväskylä Airport from the busy and international Helsinki-Vantaa Airport from April to June and from July to December in 2024. Please, check the timetables from the website. If you arrive by plane in Jyväskylä, a taxi transport from the airport to the city centre of Jyväskylä is worth booking even before boarding the plane in Helsinki, telephone number +358 100 6900. There is no public transport from the airport to the city centre. It is convenient for the congress participants, if the congress organiser arranges a shuttle bus from Helsinki-Vantaa airport to Jyväskylä. The nearest international airport is located in Tampere, from which public transport provides a convenient way of getting to Jyväskylä.

There are several daily train and bus connections from Helsinki-Vantaa airport to Jyväskylä. The Travel Centre is located in the city centre of Jyväskylä, so it is easy to continue the journey to the next destination, by the local transport buses, by taxi or even by foot. Tickets for VR’s trains and Matkahuolto’s buses are available only online.

From Helsinki to Jyväskylä you can get in under 3,5 hours and from Tampere to Jyväskylä in 1,5 hours.
