The Jyväskylä Convention Bureau (JCB) can help you organise an international or national meeting, conference or congress event in Jyväskylä. We offer free and impartial expert assistance already in the planning phase, including the application procedure and marketing during the application phase.
JCB is a consortium of the City of Jyväskylä, the University of Jyväskylä, the University of Applied Sciences, the Education Association and companies.

Our services are freely available to everyone. If you are involved in an organisation whose international or national meeting or conference you could invite to Jyväskylä, we are happy to help.

Presentation of Jyväskylä as a congress city

A well-managed budget, a realistic budget and constant monitoring of it are essential for a successful Congress.

The JCB has a budget guide to help the congress organisers, which can be requested from jaana.ruponen (at) jyvaskyla.fi.

The budget is already prepared at the invitation stage. As the final prices for services are often not known at that time, the budget should be based on current prices and updated regularly. The majority of congress expenses are usually financed by registration fees, but these are often insufficient to cover all costs. Other sources of funding include international organisations, companies, exhibitions, advertising, foundations and funds, the State and local authorities.

You can apply for state support from the Delegation of Scientific Societies (TSV). The deadline for applications to organise international conferences and to invite foreign lecturers to national seminars is October each year, with a further call for applications in March the following year. If you do not have the time and/or expertise to organise a congress, you should ask a professional congress organiser, such as the national congress agency Konffa Oy, for help. There is a template for tendering congress organisers, which can be requested from jaana.ruponen (at) jyvaskyla.fi.
