Maastis / Legends’ Loop 11,6 km
The Legends Loop (11.6 km) is a circular route located in the Laajavuori outdoor area, suitable for jogging, mountain biking (MTB), and hiking. The route is part of the larger Maastis mountain biking and hiking trail. Along the way, you can enjoy the beautiful Jyväskylä Region's nature right near the city center and challenge yourself in the hilly terrain of the legendary Laajavuori competition track. These same trails have hosted Finnish cross-country skiing championships in past decades. The route also features views of the Matti Nykänen ski jump. The trail runs mainly through the city forests in the Laajavuori outdoor area.
Description
The main starting point of the route is located at the Laajavuori ski stadium. The recommended direction is clockwise, as indicated on the route map. Users of the multi-use trail should be mindful of others, with faster users yielding to slower ones. There is one main rest area along the route at Niemelä’s lean-to. The route features significant elevation changes and steep climbs, making it challenging. This should be considered when planning your trip. However, the route mainly follows well-maintained paths. The walkability of the trail sections has been improved with gravel and boardwalks. There are also services provided by businesses along the route. The trail connects to the LadunMaja outdoor area’s trails in Taka-Keljo. Please note that the connecting trail does not have as detailed route markings or signs.
