Jyväskylä is famous for its active amateur theatre scene, which brings joy to the locals and tourists around the year. It is also home to the Jyväskylä City Theatre and many professional theatre companies as well as numerous summer theatres. The impressive theatre building of Jyväskylä was planned by the world famous architect Alvar Aalto.
The Jyväskylä Region also provides you with a diverse range of living music, in terms of concerts, gigs and festivals. The stage of the widely known rock club, Dancehall Lutakko, are crowded both by the Finnish and foreign artists and bands. The main places for arranging outdoor events are the Lutakonaukio Venue Centre, the Jyväskylä Harbour (known also as the Lutakko Harbour) and the Lounaispuisto Park. The well-known events are, for example, the Jyväskylä Summer Festival, combining different art forms along with the Suomipop Festival, driving people wild every summer with the Finnish artists starring the Festival.
