The Swingtide takes the listener on a journey through the world of scat singing and swing guitar, drawing influences from the hottest recordings of the swing era. The rhythmic style of the ensemble, which is cared for by guitarist Aki Hauru and double bassist Juuso Rinta, respectfully bows to the jazz music style created by Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli in the 1930s and 1940s, and updates it to the present day with Tomi Kettunen’s softly distorted jazz guitar soloing.
The star of the troupe is the talented jazz vocalist Elina Kardén, whose dark singing voice takes the listener on a time travel to the world of tube radios and vinyl records. Elina’s voice echoes her greatest vocal role models, Ella Fitzgerald and Billy Holiday. The ensemble’s emotional playing is unleashed through the classic songs of the swing era.
