Pekka, the small cat ends up by chance as a stowaway from the countryside to the city and gets a home as a domestic cat with a nice family. Settling down from a country cat to a city cat does not, however, go entirely smoothly, as in addition to a kind nature, Pekka has a different tail, a small stub.

The self-proclaimed most handsome tomcat of Uppsala, Monni, takes Pekka as a target of bullying together with Pilli and Pulla, but kindness and acceptance by the cat community eventually prevail over the bully’s malice and the other cats’ prejudices. There are thrilling cat adventures in store for the whole family, feline antics and even a few dogs, cat championship competitions, unexpected friends and a lesson that fairness and kindness always win over meanness.

AdAstra Theatre’s Pekka Töpöhäntä (Pekka Stubby Tail) brings to the stage the familiar characters from books and films – Pekka, Monni, Pilli and Pulla, Maija Maitoparrta and many others who have enchanted ever new children since 1939, almost 90 years! Pekka Töpöhäntä is a fresh and funny dramatization by Niko Taskinen and the play is directed by theatre director Erika Hast.

Pekka Töpöhäntä was last seen at the AdAstra Theatre exactly 10 years ago, in 2016, also directed by Erika. Back then, Pekka Töpöhäntä set the theatre’s attendance record, which it still holds.
