A true star in the highest spheres of the world of flautists, Patrick Gallois left an indelible mark on Jyväskylä Sinfonia during his long tenure as Chief Conductor at the turn of the millennium. His refined elegance and bold creativity enchanted audiences in Central Finland, and within the orchestra itself, visibility and a spirit of experimentation have reached an entirely new level thanks to Gallois. Now he returns to familiar circles with the crown jewel of Romantic flute concertos: Carl Reinecke’s poetically dreamy and epically fantastical concerto could not receive better treatment than in Gallois’s hands!
Continuing on a fantastical theme is another familiar and eagerly awaited guest, conductor Anna-Maria Helsing: Swedish contemporary composer Andrea Tarrodi envisions a celestial concert of exotic birds, while Austrian child prodigies of the Classical era, Maria Theresia von Paradis and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, let the flame of early brilliance blaze – and raise the question of why only one of them rose to fame.
