No one among us can endure the endless hamster wheel of everyday life and constant rush forever. Does your mind feel so full that no new information can fit in? Are your overloaded senses no longer able to cope with anything at all?
No worries: welcome to this concert to cleanse your mind and reset your emotions. Ralph Vaughan Williams and Arvo Pärt have, in their own eras, also burned out and turned toward musical sources of origin: the former to the wondrous glow of English Renaissance polyphony, and the latter to the meditative devotion of Orthodox chant. The young Italian composer Simone Piraino complements this with a new work celebrating the beauty of simplicity, and even the wind instruments are set free — this evening belongs to the strings, whose unified fields of vibration caress the senses of hearing and touch rather than burden them.
To maximize the experience, the orchestras of the Finnish Music Campus also join the stage in Vaughan Williams’ Concerto Grosso, creating an already vast and immersive sonic enchantment — and a deeply cleansing one.
