At the Keuruu main library, acrylic paintings and mixed media by Mirkka Välkky are on display on the exhibition wall and screens. Välkky says that visual expression has fascinated her since childhood. “My artistic journey has progressed from childhood drawing and occasional painting hobbies in my youth to the current active period.”
In 2021, Mirkka Välkky became enthusiastic about mixed media, and this encouraged her to start painting in 2024. As an artist, Välkky is self-taught. She mainly paints with acrylics, and the cornerstones of her art are colorfulness and strong moods. “Artmaking gives me strength, joy, and great significance in my life,” Välkky describes.
The September exhibition at the main library features nature-themed, colorful, and fairy-tale-like works from over two years. The style influences include impressionism and naivism.
