7.30, 8.30 and 9.30 PM | City of Light programme: Belenos Group of Arts

Finland’s leading pioneer in flow arts, Belenos Group of Arts, brings a six-member light art group to celebrate the opening of the Aalto Works Visitor Centre. Using illuminated props, the performers bring colours, patterns and visual elements to life through light, creating an unforgettable experience. The performance lasts approximately 6 minutes.

8.00 PM | Aalto, a documentary film by Virpi Suutari:

As part of the Visitor Centre opening celebrations, Virpi Suutari’s documentary film Aalto will be screened outdoors in the atrium courtyard of the Aalto2 Museum Centre. The screening is free of charge, with space for approximately 30 people on a first-come, first-served basis. Please dress warmly and appropriately for the weather, and bring your own seat pad. Seating is on natural stone paving. Umbrellas are not permitted. Hot chocolate and other drinks will be available to purchase from the Museum Centre café to help keep you warm.

Admission to the entire Aalto2 Museum Centre is free during the opening event and the rest of the evening. The museum centre is open until 10 PM.

Aalto Works – Unesco World Heritage Visitor Centre in Jyväskylä

The admission free Visitor Centre presents the thirteen sites in the Aalto Works series, which was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List this summer, with a particular focus on the sites located in Jyväskylä. It also guides visitors towards other significant Aalto sites in Central Finland, as well as the region’s World Heritage Sites.

The Aalto Works UNESCO sites in the city include the Aalto campus of the University of Jyväskylä, Säynätsalo Town Hall and the Muuratsalo Experimental House.

The Visitor Centre has been created in collaboration with the City of Jyväskylä, the University of Jyväskylä, the Foundation for the Old Church of Petäjävesi, the National Land Survey of Finland, the Association of World Heritage Sites in Finland, and the Alvar Aalto Foundation.
