There is no longer any need to wait for the arrival of the first snow, because the first snow trail opens the skiing season for the most enthusiastic skiers as soon as the temperature hits below zero. The Himos First Snow Trail starts from next to Western Himos towards Northern Himos. The length of the trail in one direction is 1.7 kilometres and the total length is 3.4 kilometres. The width of the trail is 8-10 metres and the trail is illuminated all the way. In winter the First Snow Trail functions as a cross-country ski trail that connects to the existing trail network  The maintenance and restoration of the ‘First Snow Trail is undertaken by the Himoksen latuosuuskunta (Himos Ski Cooperative).

Sauna Village

The nation’s only Sauna Village is located in Jämsä’s Juokslahti, only five minutes by car from Himos. The Sauna Village lets you journey back hundreds of years through Finnish sauna history, as well as enjoy a genuine sauna experience. The oldest of the historic smoke saunas at the Sauna Village date from the 18th century, whereas the newest saunas represent smoke sauna construction from the 1940s. In the Sauna Village, you can get acquainted with, for instance, the Moskuvaara Hill sauna, Siparila, and the multipurpose Virpiö smoke sauna.

The Outdoor Swimming Pool & Sports Park is a popular local place for exercise located in the centre of Jämsä. It offers wonderful opportunities for sports and recreation. On warm summer days you can refresh yourself by going for a swim and enjoying a picnic lunch on the sunny terrace, or by spending the day on the playground. While jogging, you can stop and test the equipment in the outdoor gym belonging to the pool.
