We will dive into the mythological world of the Kalevala through artisan Mella Nousiainen’s art textiles and stories, and finish by creating our own sauna hat by printing traditional folk patterns onto it. We will also explore Finnish sauna culture while enjoying the gentle steam of Haikusauna. The experience lasts 3 hours.

An introduction to the main themes of Finland’s national epic, the Kalevala, presented through slides and wall textiles, served with coffee and pastries. We will also learn about Finnish sauna culture.

Programme:
– Guided tour of the premises, handicraft shop, and buildings (including meeting the sheep)
– Finishing a sauna hat by selecting and printing Finnish folk motifs onto a prepared felt hat base
– Haikusauna and a chance to swim
Towels, washing supplies, and seat covers are provided in the sauna. Please bring your own swimwear!
Price: €65 per person.
There is an opportunity to continue sauna bathing from 17:00 to 21:00 during the public sauna hours. Registration no later than 18:00 on the previous day at the address provided.
