Ready, Steady, GO – the speed and exhilaration accelerate as children zip along the Peurunka Spa’s dizzying 130 and 40-metre-long water slides. The longest of these is one of the longest freely descending waterslides in the Nordic countries.
Peurunka Spa & Resort in Laukaa is a great destination for travellers with children, in all seasons. In addition to the wild waterslides and the fun Wibit water climbing track, the spa has a children’s pool with a small slide. The youngest in the family can enjoy water games in the warm water of the Baby Bungee pool.
“In the spa’s river pool, which is 100 m long, you can swim a good long way. Jacuzzis make up the whole,” says Tanja Kaliste, Peurunka’s Marketing Manager.
Sometimes it’s nice to relax in the warmth of the saunas, and when you get hungry, you can buy burgers, sodas and ice cream from the pool bar on the spa side.
A diverse range of activities both outdoors and in
In addition to the spa, Peurunka Spa & Resort also has plenty of other things to do both outdoors and in. In summer, put on your sandals and head to the beach.
“Rantamaailma and Vesipuisto (beach world and water park) are the drawcards of the summer season. At the waterpark, you can swim, climb, balance and overcome various obstacles. The highest element is “iceberg”, which is approximately 4 meters tall, and from which you can jump to the lake. The waterpark is suitable for swimmers of all ages, as it consists of two lanes, both different levels. “Vauhtisaari” is perfect for older kids and adults, whereas “Pikkupoukama” is a safe place for younger swimmers. In good weather, our customers can enjoy the beach world, water park, supboarding, beach and the summer terrace with a beautiful lake view. Our Rantamaailma also has barrel saunas and jacuzzis that can be rented for private use!” says Kaliste.
The beach at Lake Peurunkajärvi is ideal for swimming with children, as the shore is shallow and the sandy bottom feels comfortable under little toes. The lakeland nature at Peurunka Spa & Resort can also be enjoyed by SUP-boarding, canoeing and rowing. You can rent equipment from Peurunka.
“Another popular activity has proven to be e-fatbikes, which can be used all year round. There are routes with different lengths, all the way to Jyväskylä and Suolahti. You can grab an e-fatbike, and ride for a few hours or even do an all day trip!”
In winter, sledges can be borrowed from the hotel. Ski trails of different lengths also start from the hotel area.
Tenpin bowling, for example, is an activity for all weathers. When bowling with children, equipment such as a throwing ramp and borders that always keep the ball in the lane can be ordered to make things easier.
Comfortable accommodation at the spa hotel or apartment hotel
It’s easy to stay longer in Peurunka Spa & Resort, and Kaliste recommends that families stay either in the main building of the spa hotel or in the Peurantähti apartment hotel.
“It’s possible to have 1–2 extra beds in the spa hotel’s double rooms and in the more spacious Superior rooms. Peurantähti’s fully equipped holiday homes can comfortably accommodate 4-6 people. We also have nice indoor and outdoor play areas for children and board games can be borrowed from the hotel reception.
