The church museum presents the history of the Laukaa parish from the 16th century to the present day. Images, objects, maps and textiles reflect the different eras brilliantly and take us to time travel, The body of the museum consists of the presentation of the four different churches of Laukaa. In the Church Museum you can see, for example, church bells from 1758 and church silver made by the first jeweller in Jyväskylä in 1838 and 1853.
Located at the Toivola Old Courtyard, the Craftsmen’s Houses of the Museum of Central Finland exude an old-time feel. Pop in to find out about the life of craftsmen in the latter half of the 19th century in Jyväskylä. Built in the 1840s, the museum’s Coppersmith’s House and Carpenter’s House are rear and among the oldest examples of an era of wooden buildings in Jyväskylä, which was founded in 1837.
The Museum of Central Finland, also known as KeMu, invites you on a journey of discovery of what it means and has meant to live in Central Finland. In KeMu’s new permanent exhibition you can – among other things – listen to memories and stories, marvel at the changing Central Finland landscape, drop by the movies, read a comic about the founding of the city, and feel the ambience of a smoke sauna, a sporting event or a hip hop show. For children, the museum offers games from a century and more ago, a journey to the town market, a spot of hopscotch, and a chance to create your very own cave painting with modern technology. A boy called Alvar stands ready to guide you to Jyväskylä as it existed more than a century ago.
