The collections of the Petäjävesi Radio and Telephone Museum contain nearly 4,000 listed objects, most of them on display. Our collections cover the history of electronic communications and sound reproduction. The oldest radio on display dates back to 1921, the oldest electronic tube is from 1918, and the oldest phone from the 1880s. The museum features brand-specific exhibitions relating to major Finnish radio factories. Finnish and international military and professional radio productions are moreover presented as their own departments. You can also see objects related to sound reproduction and recording.
The area of Synninlukko Gorge Valley is lush with grove-like vegetation, including rare plants such as the protected drooping woodreed. The watery fens owe their origins to a spring.
The Wanha Witonen canoeing route, 75 kilometres in length, starts in Petäjävesi and ends in Lake Päijänne. The starting point is the Kirveslahti marina, and as soon as you embark, you encounter an UNESCO World Heritage site in Petäjävesi Old Church.
A diverse selection of cottages and rooms in the vicinity of Riihivuori Hill, on the shores of Lake Päijänne and in the vicinity of the centre of Muurame, only 15 to 20 kilometres from Jyväskylä.
