Äänemäki is a versatile sports centre suitable for year-round physical activity. In winter you can ski or snowboard on the well-maintained slopes. In addition to traditional skiing, there is a snow park with two jumps and a slide. Children under the age of 6 can use the rope lift free of charge when accompanied by a parent and wearing a helmet. The youngest members of the family can sled down the slope on slides. A café and equipment hire are available when the slopes are open. You can walk, snowshoe and hike around Äänemäki on your own. In summer you can explore the area on marked mountain bike trails.

The area illustrates the attempt to connect inland waters by rail to the sea coasts and thus to Europe at the end of the 19th century.  The Old Station area and port form a valuable destination for those interested in transport and cultural history. It has preserved its original character well. The station building designed by architect Bruno Granholm with its railway yards, locomotives, locomotives and railway buildings was completed as soon as railway traffic began in 1898.
