The Church of Jämsä

The main church of the Jämsä parish is prominently located on the church hill, creating a dignified atmosphere for the entire area.

The church is a cross-shaped church designed by architect Kauno S. Kallio and was consecrated on September 29, 1929. It was built on the site of the previous church, which was destroyed in a fire in 1925. From the burned church, the current church space features items such as the altarpiece and crucifix, as well as smaller objects in the church museum.
