“Northern Tango concert at Muurame Church”

Welcome to a magnificent tango concert at the Muurame Church in the spirit of the Muurame Days!

The Finnish ensemble Tango del norte, awarded in international competitions, is a diamond-quality tango group whose journey began in 2011 with the music of Astor Piazzolla. For 15 years, the ensemble’s musicians have sought tango instruction from the best musicians in Argentina. The result is a polished sound that earns admiration and praise from the audience concert after concert.

Tango del norte has performed over 300 concerts across Finland and has also appeared on concert stages, clubs, and tango festivals throughout Europe and Argentina. During the 2025-2026 winter season, they will tour not only Finland but also Argentina and Spain. In 2021, Tango del norte received the 2nd prize in the international “Astor Piazzolla – Città di Trani 2021” competition in Italy, held in honor of Astor Piazzolla’s 100th birthday. In 2018, the ensemble’s bandoneon player Sami Pirttilahti won the international “Che Bandoneon” competition in the United States.

Over the years, Tango del norte has worked with many top domestic and foreign tango musicians and vocalists. In 2016, Tango del norte released the CD “Raíces de pasión” together with Argentinian singer Romina Bianchi, and in 2018, the well-reviewed duo album “Solos & Duos” was released. In 2025, the ensemble’s third album “Argentinian Style” was released, and in October 2025, the new album was also released in Argentina during a concert tour.
