Buses 16, 16M and 21 run from Jyväskylä city centre to Säynätsalo every half hour.

The Säynätsalo Town Hall is part of the ‘Aalto Works’ series, which has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The Säynätsalo Town Hall (Alvar Aalto 1949–52) is one of architect Alvar Aalto’s most significant works, occupying a unique place in the history of 20th-century architecture. Even whilst under construction, the building attracted attention due to its uniqueness. Since its completion, Säynätsalo has welcomed enthusiastic visitors from all over the world: students, groups of architects and individual visitors, now numbering around 3,000–4,000 annually. Indeed, it has been noted that the town hall has made Säynätsalo Finland’s most internationally renowned island.

On Saturdays, no advance booking is required. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket office.

Outside opening hours, there is a door-opening fee of €32 per group plus admission fees (excluding Saturdays between 12 noon and 3 pm).
