The voice that is strongest within you – is it the Philosopher’s? The Crier’s? The Dreamer’s? The Tiger’s?
Board the ship and embark on a cruise through various modes of speech, postures, and levels of being.
The workshop will serve information flashes about poems and poets who have drawn distinctively from different starting points. Additionally, the workshop will discuss poem examples, explore different writing styles, and experiment with writing from various postures and by combining different approaches. The aim of the workshop is to discern one’s own characteristic writing style and perhaps expand it in new directions.
Petri Turunen will work as an artist-in-residence in Keuruu at Santtu’s House in July 2026. He is a published poetic activist, script mentor, and creative writing instructor who loves language and wonders at everything. At Santtu’s House, he is compiling his fourth, epic-sized poetry collection, which is scheduled for completion by autumn 2027:
the path to becoming a poet is paved with iridescent feathers
when you look, you see a fieldfare with insects in its beak
the stack of paper on your desk could not be higher
the lungs are functioning, the gaze is clear, without a doubt
the wind travels through the branches
the deadline turns 10 years old and warms up on the weekend
you tap on your Remington so that the tiles crack
