We begin with a relaxed lunch at Ruustinna’s Aittakahvila, after which we move on to paddling. First, we go through the basics of paddling and safety instructions before heading out onto the water with a guide. The route follows a calm lake area and is well suited for beginners — we paddle at an easy and safe pace while enjoying the surrounding nature.
The route continues to Matoniemi shore, where the trip goes on by foot through the pine forest of Mannila. The walking section is about 1.3 km each way on an easy forest path. Old pine trees, soft needle-covered trails, and the peaceful atmosphere of the forest create a unique setting for the walk.
At the museum, we take part in a guided tour:
Fransu 100 – 100th Anniversary Exhibition of Frans Toikkanen & Ansu – Printmaker Anneli Klemola
The exhibition presents works by sculptor Frans Toikkanen (1926–2008), originally from Saarijärvi, together with expressive and delicate works by printmaker Anneli Klemola (b. 1936).
After the guided tour, we enjoy coffee at the museum before walking back to the shore and paddling peacefully back to Ruustinna.
