Three generations currently work at the Lahtinen company, so there is no shortage of stories – ranging from the firm’s history and future to the nature of felt itself. On this tour led by a maker, visitors will hear stories about the unique character of felt and the company’s pivotal moments, while also getting a glimpse of what the felt slipper of the future looks like.
The exhibition HUOPA – A Hundred Years of Finnish Craftsmanship chronicles the journey of the Lahtinen family business, which spans over a century of working with felt. Over the decades, the small family enterprise has grown into a renowned Finnish expert in the field. Four generations have steered the company forward, adapting to a changing world.
