The August Suonteen Soitto concert will feature music from singers, fadista Kirsi Poutanen’s new album, Kuulin Kui Helizi Fado — From the Fado Alleys of Lisbon to the Song Lands of Karelia. It promises to be an intimate and soulful evening where the moving Portuguese fado and pianist-composer Esa Helasvuo’s compositions inspired by the Karelian singing tradition come together. The concert will radiate musical energy that comforts, touches, and surprises.
Kirsi Poutanen is a versatile artist best known as a Finnish musician and singer specializing in Portuguese fado. She has been nominated for an Emma Award in Finland and the Premio do Amália in Portugal.
Joining Poutanen on the Karelian song lands will be top musicians Esa Helasvuo on piano, Juha Lanu on guitar, and Juha Tikka on bass.
