Administrative and cultural centre, from 1964
Alvar Aalto also prepared designs for the city centre of Jyväskylä. Of these designs, the police headquarters, municipal office building and city theatre have been implemented. The second phase of the administrative centre, which also includes a sculptural council tower, remains to be carried out. Aalto’s designs include a “people’s square” between the tower, theatre and old town hall.
