Yläkaupungin Yö festival (The Night in the Upper Town) opens the Jyväskylä summer season. The multi-artistic and free-of-charge city festival takes place from 16th-17th of May. The Jyväskylä picnic event in Lounaispuisto on 17th of May is a birthday present from the City of Jyväskylä to all the citizens of Jyväskylä, which everyone in the city can enjoy. In the free concert we hear music from Nössö Nova band.

The LystiKylä (Fun Village) festival for the whole family will take place from 6th to 8th of June. It offers a varied programme at 15 different venues with more than 50 performances. The festival programme includes the puppet show, a concert by Sukkalukko band and a Red Riding Hood performance by Red Nose Company. Hevisaurus is the star artist of the final party in Lounaispuisto. At the Lounaispuisto stage will once again be organized a variety of events. There will be sing-along evenings, concerts and a cinema picnic. All events are free of charge unless otherwise informed.
Jyväskylän Kesä festival celebrates with the audience
Jyväskylän Kesä festival (Jyväskylä’s Summer) is the oldest continuously organised city festival in the Nordic countries, and this year it celebrates its 70th anniversary. Jyväskylä Summer Festival will take place from 2nd to 8th of July in Jyväskylä and near-by areas. The opening concert is organised together with the Jyväskylä Sinfonia (Jyväskylä Symphony Orchestra), which is also celebrating its 70th anniversary. The multi-artistic, unique and prestigious event includes annual concerts, dance, films, discussions, courses and the highly popular Puistojuhlat (Park Festival).

Experience Finnish summer theatre in a garden or by the Päijänne landscape
Uno C is a play presented by the Teatterikone (Theatre Machine) in the garden of Cultural Centre Villa Rana from 25th of June to 18th of July. The play offers profound insights and laughter and piece of Jyväskylä’s history. From 17th of June to 2nd of August, Teatteri Eurooppa Neljä (Theatre Europe Four) will present One Night play in Riihivuori Arena at Muurame. It’s a play about different people who are united by a garbage can in their shared yard and the hope for a better life. The play features music by legendary Finnish artist Hector.
