Description

When arriving at Haukanniemi nature trail, you can leave your car in the parking area on Lyhdekatu. The starting point of the nature trail is located at the edge of the walking and cycling path near the junction with the route to Haukanniemi. The starting point is accessible.

The trail runs to the accessible campfire hut at the tip of Haukanniemi and back the same way. Along the trail you will find fields, lakes, deciduous groves and coniferous forests. From the Lyhdekatu parking area, it is 1.2 km to the tip of Haukanniemi. Along the trail are benches for resting at intervals of about 100 m. The total length of the trail is 2.4 kilometres. Part of the nature trail is a demanding accessible route, an alternative route from the campfire site when going back to the accessible return route. On the demanding accessible section, the gradient is 8% in places. The routes are marked with symbols on the ground and with signposts. The local wildlife is presented on information boards along the route, some of which are embossed and in Braille. The texts are written in plain language and can also be listened to by scanning a QR code.

The campfire hut at the tip of Haukanniemi is a great place to barbecue sausages and have a snack, for example. It is not, however, possible to overnight at the hut. There is also a maintenance building with an accessible dry toilet along the route. There is a code lock on the door of the building, which can be opened by registering as a nature trail user via the QR code on the trail sign.

Part of Haukanniemi is a conservation area, so please respect nature. In particular, the bays of Rautpohjanlahti and Eerolanlahti are protected breeding areas for birds. Eeronlahti bird sanctuary and the Rautpohja bird tower are good birdwatching sites.
