The accessible trail allows everyone to enjoy the lovely views by Lake Harjujärvi and breathe the fresh pine forest air. The cooking shelter makes the trip great even on a rainy day! The accessible Harjujärvi trail runs from the shore of Lake Harjujärvi to Lake Turasenlampi. The round trip is 700 m / each way. The accessible Harjujärvi trail is part of the 2.2-km Luupään Lenkki Trail.
The cooking shelter at Harjujärvi offers a great place to stop for a snack with its campfire and accessible dry toilet facilities. The trail first follows the shore of Lake Harjujärvi and then turns to the forest to reach Lake Turasenlampi. The trail is a dirt track, covered with pine needles fallen from the trees, and there is a slight ascent at the beginning.
Harjujärvi Trail can be reached with Outdoor Express buses in the summer 2025.
Accessibility
The accessible route is easy for pedestrians but challenging for wheelchair users, so an assistant is needed on the trip. The route is mostly gravel road with a gentle uphill section. At the end of the route, at Turasenlampi lake, there is a wheelchair-accessible bridge and a pier to the lake. On the shore of Harjujärvi, there is an accessible cooking shelter with a chimney and an accessible toilet.
Parking
Kirveslampi parking area, Vartiamäentie 1073, Joutsa. You can drive to the Harjujärvi half-shelter (Vartiamäentie 1041, 41730 Joutsa) by car or accessible taxi. Along the way, there is a gate for which you can get the key from Röykkälä sheep farm (Harjunlahdentie 760). Please arrange to pick up the key in advance!
