Saunakylä

The Sauna Village, located in Jämsä on the shores of Lake Päijänne, is a journey into the centuries-old history and genuine sauna experience that only Finnish saunas can offer. The oldest smoke saunas relate the history of the Finnish sauna, as well as the traditions of building saunas of different areas. The general  Saturday sauna schedules begin in June and continue until the autumn, and in that period several smoke saunas are heated in Saunakylä, for bathing in. It is also possible to reserve saunas for private use. On guided tours, you can acquaint yourself with the millennial history of sauna and the culture of the Finnish sauna. Saunakylä operations are maintained by the non-profit organisation, Suomen Saunakulttuuri ry. The objective of the organisation is to preserve and maintain traditional Finnish sauna culture.
