Splash around the spa and meet a moose

If the weather doesn’t favor outdoor activities, the Jyväskylä Region offers excitement and things to do indoors as well. Both children and adults enjoy themselves at Spa Hotel Peurunka. The spa’s 130-meter-long water slide, water climbing track, and the experiential Saraakallio-themed sauna inspire and pamper the whole family. In addition to the spa, you can go bowling and cycling in Peurunka!

Never mind the weather when it comes to indulging. The delights of the table at Restaurant Hirvikartano in Jämsä are enjoyed by both children and adults. The restaurant also hosts Finland’s only elk park, where you can learn about moose, reindeer, and fallow deer with a guide. The elk park offers free entry to all restaurant customers.

Cultural experiences for kids

Jyväskylä Region’s cultural offerings have something for all ages to experience. The Jyväskylä Art Museum, located on the edge of Jyväskylä’s Church Park, opens a new exhibition on the first day of February. In the Art Space Ilmiö, you can explore works by children of different ages and also unleash your own creativity. Admission is free for those under 24 years old.

Next to the Art Museum is the Craft Museum of Finland, which is also a suitable destination for the whole family. The main exhibition, Aistinvarainen, offers not only a visual experience but also the opportunity to touch the artworks. After the exhibition tour, you can express your creativity in the Open Workshop. Visitors under 18 can enter the museum free of charge.

In addition to the exhibitions, it’s worth heading to the theater with children. Teatteri Eurooppa Neljä presents the children’s musical play Pauliina Piraatti ja kadonnut tuuli at the TE4 Club on February 7th, 9th, and 14th.
