The best sledding hills in Jyväskylä Region

The best fun on a frosty day is sledding. Below are some of the best sledding hills in the Jyväskylä Region. Read the tips!

1. Jyväskylä Harju

Near the city center, on Jyväskylä Harju, there is a popular sledding hill. The free winter slide of Harju can be found on the same side of the hill as Mäki-Matti family park, between the fitness stairs and the stadium. There is also a campfire site available for everyone.

2. Laajavuori ski resort

The Laajavuori ski center, also known as Laajis, offers slopes for beginner skiers and a fast-paced sledding hill maintained by a snowcat. The Snowland area also features a lean-to with a camp kitchen, where you can grill delicious sausages for hungry sledders. 3. Peurunka, Laukaa

In Peurunka, on the shore of Lake Peurunkajärvi, there is a sledding hill for children. The sledding hill is free of charge, and hotel guests can borrow sleds, snowracers, sliders, and tubes for free. Next to the hill, by the lake, there is a grill shelter. 4. Riihivuori ski resort, Muurame

In addition to the other services of the ski resort, Riihivuori in Muurame offers an excellent sledding hill and a campfire spot. The sledding hill is free for everyone, and sleds can be borrowed from the rental shop. There are also stunning views from the top, as Riihivuori is the highest point in Muurame. 5. Häkärinteet, Hankasalmi

At Häkärinteet in Hankasalmi, you’ll find excitement both on the ski slopes and the sledding hill suitable for children. In the children’s area, you can also borrow sleds and Stiga sleds for free. Read more about Häkärinteet.

6. Himos, Jämsä

There is plenty to do at Himos Lumila located in Himos. The area’s four lifts transport you up, and you can come down on skis, a snowboard, a sled, a toboggan, or a tubing ring. You can enjoy snacks at the area’s three lean-tos. Lumila charges an entrance fee. Read more about Himos Lumila

7. Keljonkangas sports park

The sledding hill at Keljonkangas sports park is a popular place for sledding. At the same area, there is also a lean-to shelter, ski trails, and a skating rink. Especially during peak times, it’s advisable to be careful at the sledding hill. The sledding area is located on the hill behind the trails that start from the parking area.

8. Toivakan keskusta

Near the ski trails and sports field in the center of Toivakka, there is a free sledding hill and a lean-to shelter. You can access the sledding hill via the path next to the parking area located at Palosentie 7 (Note! Walking on ski trails is prohibited) or via Versotie on the other side of the sports field.
