Arriving to Jyväskylä from Turku

Turku is an accessible arrival point to Finland, with flights coming from several European cities. Travellers arriving via Turku can continue to the Jyväskylä Region by train or long‑distance bus, both offering straightforward links across the country. Ferries also operate between Turku, Sweden and the Åland Islands, providing an alternative route by sea for passengers arriving from the west.

You can reach Jyväskylä from Turku by train, bus or car. The journey takes about 3,5-4 hours.

By bus

Schedules and tickets:
Buses from Turku to Jyväskylä leave from the Turku bus station and Turku harbour. You can find the bus schedules and buy tickets on the Matkahuolto website. Note that there are no direct connections from Turku Airport to Jyväskylä, you will need to take a local bus (Föli) line 1 to Turku city centre first. See Föli schedules on the Föli itinerary search and buy tickets either via the Föli app (Google Play –store / Apple store) or directly from the bus with contactless pay (please note that you cannot pay by cash in Föli buses).

The journey from Turku bus station to Jyväskylä takes about 4,5 hours.

By train

Schedules and tickets:
Trains from Turku to Jyväskylä leave from the Turku train station and Turku harbour. You can easily purchase train tickets and check the schedules on the VR website. Download the VR Matkalla –app (Google Play –store / Apple store) for easy travelling. You can see schedules and purchase tickets via the app. Note that there are no direct connections to Jyväskylä from Turku Airport, you will need to take a local bus (Föli) line 1 to Turku city centre first. Duration:
The journey from Turku train station to Jyväskylä takes about 3,5-4 hours depending on the chosen connection. You will likely need to change trains at Tampere train station.

By car

Renting:
