Public transport to nature sites

Jyväskylä and the Jyväskylä Region have many lovely nature spots, but what to do when you don’t have a car? Don’t worry, there are plenty of nature destinations you can reach by bus or train. Hop on board a Linkki bus and head for the nature trails! By the way, did you know that public access to National Parks will be further improved in summer 2025, when the Outdoor Express service is piloted in Jyväskylä Region?

The buses of Jyväskylä’s local transport operator Linkki can take you to many of Jyväskylä’s nature destinations. Buses depart from the local transport terminal in Jyväskylä city centre (Asemakatu).

Haukanniemi Nature Trail
Jyväskylä local buses no. S3 and S4 to Kortepohja, departure from bay no. 6, zone A ticket.
The start of the nature trail is some 500 m from the stop Kortesuo 2.

Death Pits

Kangasvuori Nature Trail

Kolmisoppinen Nature Trail
Jyväskylä local bus no. 13 to Tikkala, departure from bay no. 7, zone A ticket.
The start of the nature trail is some 450 m from the stop Kolmisoppinen L.

Laajavuori Nature Trail
Jyväskylä local buses no. S5 to Palokka (departure from bay 6) and no. 9 to Savulahti (departure from bay 7), zone A ticket.
Get off the bus at the bus stop by the Laajavuori ski slopes (Laajavuori 2). The start of the nature trail is some 100 m from the bus stop.

Sippulanniemi Nature Trail

The start of the nature trail is some 1.3 km from the stop Amiraali E.

Äänemäki Observation Tower

Get off at stop Kovala th I. The observation tower is about 1.4 km away.

On weekends during the summer season of 2025, the Outdoor Express offers a fast connection from the center of Jyväskylä to the Pyhä-Häkki, Southern Konnevesi, and Leivonmäki National Parks.

Leivonmäki National Park

By train to nature destinations

VR’s trains offer easy access to Pihlajavesi via Keuruu. Trains depart from Jyväskylä Travel Centre (Hannikaisenkatu 20).
