Äänekoski Art Museum
The art museum in the centre of Äänekoski is open all year round. The museum’s main exhibition is assembled from the collection of the Toivo Parantainen Art Museum Foundation, an art collector who lived in Liimattala in Konginkangas. Works by Wäinö Aaltonen, H. Ahtela, Hugo Simberg, Essi Renvall, Simo Hannula and Veikko Vionoja, among others.
The museum also organises several temporary exhibitions throughout the year. They feature both works by local artists and artists with a connection to the area.
Äänekoski Art Museum is housed in a beautiful “dragon-style” log house built in 1900 as a factory manager’s residence. The museum is surrounded by Klubinmäki, a protected, culturally valuable park with old buildings. From the museum there is a picturesque path along the shore leading to the area around Lake Äänejärvi and Häränvirta.
