The Muuramenjoki River runs from Lake Muuratjärvi into Lake Päijänne through the Muurame municipal centre. Muuramenjoki River is 1.5 km long with gentle rapids and a height difference of 12 metres. Muuramenjoki River is also very popular among anglers.
On the river banks, you can walk along a 3.5-kilometre hiking trail including a 1.5-kilometre nature trail. Muuramenjoki Nature Trail is located near Muurame town centre. The trail meanders through the lush riverbanks of Muuramenjoki with its diverse nature and cultural landscape. The rich flora, river habitats and the history of the river valley make the nature trail a unique experience. You can walk on the nature trail all year round.

Starting point/end point
The nature trail can be accessed by the fire station (Virastotie 6) and the pedestrian and bicycle overpass next to the health centre (Virastotie 10). The route is marked with sign posts and orange paint markings.
Route length
The easy trail is approx. 1.5 km long and takes 1 hour to complete.
Structures
There are 15 information boards along the trail, introducing facts about the nature and history of the area.
Lapp hut or camp fire
There are a few benches for resting along the trail.
