A ski jumping stadium comprised of five hills is located in Laajavuori, Jyväskylä. One of the hills is named after Jyväskylä-born ski jumping legend Matti Nykänen as “Nykänen’s hill” or “Nykänen’s ramp”. Introduced in 1965, the hill was given its current name after Nykänen succeeded in the 1988 Calgary Olympics by winning three Olympic gold medals. Matti Nykänen’s hill now enjoys a magnificent permanent lighting.

Harju ridge & Vesilinna observation tower
