Rasuanniemi

Rasuanniemi on Kankarisvesi lake is a 5–15 metres high ridge of great scenic and cultural historic value. It was formed by ice and water during the Ice Age. The area is characterised by beautiful sandy beaches and wonderful coves, which have been preserved in their natural state. The ridge has numerous natural channels, kettleholes and erosion gullies from the Ice Age. There is a magnificent strait between Rasuanniemi and Mataranniemi.

Rasuanniemi has a Nature area where one can find ancient monuments. The ancient remains prove that the area was already inhabited in the Stone Age. The vegetation in the area is dry heath forest over a hundred years old, with old pine forest as well as lingonberries and crowberries. Rasuanniemi is a great destination for day excursions and it also has a place for a fire.
