Autumn in the Jyväskylä Region is filled with experiences that invite you to enjoy atmospheric days and evenings.

How does admiring the autumn colours from the waters of Lake Päijänne sound? Päijänne Risteilyt Hilden continues to take visitors out onto the lake throughout September. Depart from Lutakko Harbour and experience the unique autumn atmosphere of Finland’s longest and deepest lake from the water.

In the world’s sauna region, the Jyväskylä Region, sauna experiences continue throughout the autumn. The weekly public sauna at Juurikkasaari in Säynätsalo invites visitors to relax in gentle steam and take a refreshing dip in Lake Päijänne.

Autumn is also harvest season. At the Wemmi Harvest Market, visitors can enjoy local food and seasonal flavours at Jyväskylä Paviljonki on 19–20 September 2026. This family-friendly event offers plenty to experience and taste.

As the evenings grow darker, the spotlight turns to light. The free City of Light Festival will illuminate Jyväskylä from 25 September to 3 October 2026. Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the event brings spectacular light installations and unforgettable experiences to the city and its surroundings for nine days.

Jyväskylä’s museum season offers experiences ranging from street art and craft heritage to the architecture of Alvar Aalto. At the Jyväskylä Art Museum, the exhibition Graffiti City explores the history and present day of street art.
