A day in Keuruu consists of the tranquility of nature, historical sites, atmospheric dining places, and stunning scenery. The route can be traveled by car and, in the summer, also by bicycle, and its total length is just over 40 km. The route is best traveled in the summer, but many destinations can be visited year-round. In winter, we recommend confirming the opening hours of each destination separately. Below you will find a map and detailed information about the destinations.

Himmaanmäki Observation Tower
Start the day by admiring the forest and field landscapes opening up from Himmaan Huippu (in Finnish). The area also has a campfire site and a 600 m long nature trail. In the summer, the small Torni Café serves at the tower.
Opening hours: The tower is freely accessible to everyone at their own risk throughout the year. No winter maintenance.

Keuruu Museum
After lunch, it’s time to dive into history and culture. First, head to the neighbor of the old Keuruu vicarage, Keuruu Museum (in Finnish). At the Keuruu Museum, you can explore the cultural history of the area and enjoy changing art exhibitions.

Cafe Iidan Unelma
Cafe Iidan Unelma (in Finnish) is an excellent stop for coffee. Additionally, lunch is available during the summer season.

Keuruu Old Church
The Keuruu Old Chruch was taken into use in 1758. The designer and master builder during the construction years was Antti Antinpoika Hakola. The atmospheric old wooden church exudes the ambiance of the 18th century.

Keuruu local history museum
The museum area consists of ten buildings that showcase the late 19th-century peasant environment of Keuruu. The local history museum also has changing summer exhibitions and a permanent exhibition of artifacts.

Cruise on the paddle-boat Elias Lönnrot
Next, hop on board of the paddle-boat Elias Lönnrot and sail to the waves of Lake Keurusselkä to enjoy a warm summer day.
Note! The paddle-boat also operates a route between Keuruu’s Ahtola harbor and the day’s final destination, Hotel Keurusselkä. So you can also arrive at the day’s final stop by boat. If you leave your car at Keuruu harbor, make sure you are in time for the return trip or stay overnight at Hotel Keurusselkä.Opening hours: The paddle-boat cruises during the summer season. Overnight stay
