Local buses

The public transit system in the Jyväskylä Region is called Linkki. Linkki can take you to destinations in Jyväskylä, Muurame, Laukaa, Petäjävesi, Hankasalmi, Äänekoski, and Toivakka. You can recognize a Linkki by its green colour. You can buy a single ticket or a day ticket to travel on Linkki. There are also a variety of season and value tickets available for sale. In the public transportation buses operated for Jyväskylä’s regional public transit, you can pay either using a Waltti card or in cash. A mobile ticket is also available. In buses, single tickets can be bought with cash and through contactless payment.

Local transport terminal

The local transport terminal is located on Asemakatu street in Jyväskylä, on the block between the Vapaudenkatu and the Hannikaisenkatu streets. The Jyväskylä Travel Centre, where all intercity buses and trains arrive, is about 260 metres from the local transport terminal. Use Google Maps to view the route. You can check the schedules and routes for the buses using the the Jyväskylä Public Transport Route Planner.

Linkki service point

More information on the Linkki services can be obtained at the Linkki service point at Asemakatu 7, Jyväskylä (entrance through the Forum hallway). The Linkki service point is open Mon 10 am-5 pm and Tue-Fri 10 am-4 pm. Please check here for any irregular opening hours.

Good ticket options for tourists

  • Single ticket
    • Cash from the driver (adult single ticket starting from €3.50)
    • Contactless payment with a debit, credit, or similar card when boarding the bus (adult single ticket starting from €2.30)
    • A mobile ticket is a single ticket purchased through the mobile app (adult single ticket starting from €3)
  • A day ticket is a single- or two-day ticket specific to one person, purchased through the Linkki service point or the mobile app.
    • 24 h/adult €10
    • 48 h/adult €15

You can download the Linkki mobile app free of charge from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. If you plan to use the mobile app for payment, we recommend that you download and install the app and add your payment information well in advance of boarding the bus.

Buying a ticket

You can buy the ticket either using cash or a payment card that supports contactless payments directly from the bus. Tickets can also be purchased through the Linkki mobile app and the Linkki service point.

Tip: Do you travel with your spouse or children? The mobile app is the easiest option to get tickets, as you can buy multiple tickets on the same phone, for example for a trip of an adult and a child.
